Open Research Week 2025 opens for registration

This year, for the first time, all eight Midlands Innovation partners will unite to deliver Open Research Week, which will take place from Tuesday 6th May to Friday 9th May 2025. The four-day online event is dedicated to promoting open research practices and supporting a collaborative research culture across the partnership.

The event will bring together researchers, professional services staff, and other stakeholders from across Midlands Innovation to share knowledge, discuss challenges, and explore opportunities for enhancing transparency and collaboration. By facilitating these discussions and exchanges, the event aims to highlight exemplary open practices already in place across the partnership and stimulate further progress.

The theme of this inaugural event, ‘Beyond Compliance,’ focuses on how universities can adopt a more proactive and innovative approach to developing an open culture. The event features a packed schedule with a diverse range of speakers and workshops, delivered by experts from within the partnership and beyond.

Professor Jim Grange, lead for Research Integrity & Improvement at Keele University, who is coordinating the event this year, shared his excitement: “I’m delighted that so many colleagues from across the Midlands Innovation partnership have come together to deliver Open Research Week this year. It is an important topic for us, because by sharing our differing approaches openly, we invite discussion and critique, and—most importantly—progress. We have a fantastic line-up of speakers and workshops and are expecting a great turnout.”
