MI Health partners showcase the region’s translational health research expertise
10 year reflections – Q&A with departing EMG Chair Phil Baker
Midlands Innovation Electron Microscopy Conference
We are delighted to announce our draft agenda for the MI EM Network 2025 Conference, hosted by the Microscopy Services Centre at Cranfield University on Tuesday 15th April.
With many fantastic speakers now confirmed, we are looking forward to hearing about some of the significant updates in regional EM capability as well as new initiatives in outreach, research technical professional (RTP) development, environmental sustainability and beyond. We’ll hear from the BBSRC, MRC and EPSRC on current and upcoming infrastructure funding opportunities, the Royal Microscopical Society (RMS) on current initiatives and opportunities as well as directly from Midlands Innovation as it celebrates it’s 10 year anniversary. Furthermore we are also delighted to have trade supporting the event – via both exhibitions and technobyte presentations. Huge thanks to Thermo Fisher, ZEISS, JEOL, Bruker, Tescan and Gatan for their attendance. Please see here for more details on the event schedule.
We hope to see as many of RTPs working in and around electron microscopy in the area at the event as possible – as we think it will be genuinely rewarding and a prime opportunity to grow regional activity in support of our fantastic facilities. To register for this event please use the link below:
Please note that travel bursaries are available via Midlands Innovation for RTPs at all MI institutions. More information will be provided to conference registrants on this and on travel logistics (e.g. exact locations for parking).
However whilst this travel support is currently limited to staff from MI institutions – we’d love to encourage as many attendees from other regional partners outside of the core MI institutions to join us – Any EM facility in the wider midlands area (academic or otherwise) is welcome to attend and contribute, and the more engagement we have the easier it will be to reshape future funding to support broader attendance. Please therefore pass this on to anyone you think it would be of interest for.
