The Research Excellence Framework (REF) results which assess and benchmark the quality of the UK’s higher education research impact and outputs have been published.
Since forming a research partnership in 2015, the eight research-intensive universities within Midlands Innovation have established a strong track record collaborating on research within engineering, energy, life sciences, med-tech and space.
The REF 2021 results reveal that collectively, Midlands Innovation has a total staffing volume of more than 7194 academics driving research output, evidenced through 592 impact case studies.

“We are committed to working with our partners to develop a world-class, thriving and responsive research base and the REF results will enable us to do so.”
