Midlands Innovation is proud to have recently supported a number of events and initiatives to strengthen research links and collaborative research funding opportunities in the Midlands.

- The Midlands Biophysical Network is reignited
Established to encourage collaboration in the Midlands including equipment and knowledge sharing. The group, led by Emma Hesketh, Midlands Regional CryoEM Facility Manager, hosted their first annual meeting since reforming at the University of Leicester.
With over 100 delegates attending, plans for a 2025 event on 12th September at the University of Nottingham are now underway.

Midlands Innovation supported a Proposal Pitching event at Aston University. The event attracted applications from 14 teams across five of the Midlands Innovation universities.
On the day, five shortlisted applicants presented their pitches with time for questions from the funders and other applicants.
Funders were impressed with the quality of the proposals and are expected to make funding decisions shortly. The MI Team wishes good luck to all those who were shortlisted.
- Midlands Inorganic Chemistry Discussions Conference
MI was delighted to support the region’s Inorganic Chemistry Conference which was recently held in Nottingham.Nearly 50 delegates from eight universities across the region attended the conference, with organisers providing talks and an opportunity for researchers who showcased over 22 poster presentations.
The standard of poster presentations was extremely high, with judges naming Sam Prettyman of the University of Leicester as the winner.
